The large overseas case from Mädler, Leipzig, has been preserved quite well. It is the "world railway case" in the greatest version. Around 1900, the Mädler suitcases were the gold standard in Germany. Our copy has some signs of wear on the ground, the use and the keys are also missing.

It should be light and permanent the big suitcase, modern in contemporary design and the status of the owners. The Mädler company in Leipzig developed the so -called pipe flat plate, a dense flax tissue which was stiffened by adding Harz and was kept in shape by wood strips bent under steam. Anton Mädler was not only a luggage producer but also patrons and the client of famous city buildings such as the Mädler Passage in Leipzig.
