Few signs of use. Upholstery velvet is a heavy, dense fabric. In the case of our divan blanket, the pile is wool, presumably a black textile print on a light gray ground, woven with a very dense, sturdy cotton fabric as a backing. Slight pile loss and small stains are signs of aging.

The dense, heavy, and therefore very durable divan blanket with Expressionist decoration measures an impressive 3 meters long and 130 cm high. Such blankets served as throws or draperies on sofas or as tablecloths for large dining tables in the living room. Our example is still well preserved overall and features rich Cubist-Expressionist decoration.
